Winter Solstice Lantern Parade
It was wonderful to see you all on our Lantern Parade evening. The night was perfect, still, calm and warm. The children had worked very hard, creating their lanterns and learning our songs. Thank you so much to the parents who did an amazing job preparing all the milk containers by cutting them in half, punching holes for the string and then meticulously cutting rectangles for the lantern windows.
The main work this week has been the preparation of the lanterns and practising the songs. Each song had its own story attached. They learned about nocturnal animals and how children speak if they live in Germany. They also learned about jungles and villages in Africa. I‘ve always loved the song The Lion Sleeps Tonight and I thought it would be a perfect song to add to our repertoire for The Parade. So our singing of the song was always a “whim away”.
